Kelly's Review of Moo Printing

Printing is an ongoing issue that we all deal with as designers and creatives. We are all perfectionists and want the highest quality but are also usually on a budget. About 6 years ago before opening Front Porch Studio, I was working at a small design studio in Atlanta, Resource Branding & Design. Because the majority of our clients were in real estate we did a lot of print design, I was usually at a press check once a week. Press checks are great because you can have full control of the printing process but they are timely and not all small businesses and entrepreneurs have the budget for a full print shop.
Fast forward and I now find myself working with small businesses and entrepreneurs regularly who want to make an impression when it comes to business cards, brochures, and notecards but are also on a budget. This is where Moo comes in and has helped me deliver higher-quality digital prints to my clients.
Personally, I love the gold foil and their Luxe Business Cards, the quality is amazing people always do a double-take when you had them that double-thick card. They also offer slightly unique sizing from a standard business card. This can make a huge difference when sharing your cards as well to have yours just feel slightly more special and unique.
Additionally, Moo allows you to apply variable data to business cards, postcards, brochures, etc without any additional charge. This is so helpful for small businesses with a small team of employees or if you are just a team of one but want to have a variety of different coloured business cards, alternating images on postcards, and unique data on envelopes.
Some things I don’t love:
As a designer, I have a sample pack of all the finishes and paper options at hand so I am able to select the best option for a client’s card but based on timelines I do usually ship these directly from moo.ca to my clients. I would love to be able to inspect the printed material first but with shipping that is not always possible. This does sometimes result in imperfections during the printing process. This has been the case a handful of times and Moo is always happy to reprint immediately or offer a refund.
If you have any questions about print quality or Moo.ca that I haven’t mentioned in the review, feel free to send me an email and I’ll be sure to answer.
